Martian Child

Martian Child was a delightful movie about a man whose wife is gone and he wants to adopt a child because that had been their plans. He visits with a young boy who to most seems a bit odd but to him he seems a bit like him, so he decides to adopt him. The only thing is, is that the boy thinks he came from Mars and does not belong on this planet.

It is a great movie for families to sit down to and not have to worry about anything bad being in the movie. I would recommend it to anyone.

Becoming Jane

Becoming Jane is a biographical portrait of the young Jane Austen before she became famous with her writing. It has always been said that it was sad that Jane Austen could right such great love stories without ever being married. Now we can see where the influences for her books came from by the relive people she had influencing her when she was a teenager. From the cranky aristocrats to her love for a young Irishman. If you are a Jane Austen fan you will love this movie, because it was interesting to see how her life influenced her writing.

Definatly a chick flick, so sorry to all those guys who may have to endure this movie to make their ladies happy. :)

Goofs:

In the scene where Jane meets Mr. Lefroy in the woods she walking away from him on the path and you see a rather large white string at her hem. Then, she walks back up to him, says something, and walks away again and the string has disappeared.

During the opening title sequence, as the camera moves back from Jane playing the piano, the camera rails can be seen in the foreground.

Spiderwick Chronicles

After moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, Jared finds a book the he might wish he never opened. Inside the book holds the secrets to alternate world full of creatures some good some evil. When he finds out his family is in trouble he gets his brother and sister to help fight the bad creatures and save the Spiderwick Chronicles from being used by the evil Ogre.

The Spiderwick Chronicles was a great family movie full of fun magic creatures that can not be seen unless you have a special eye glass or another interesting way (but I don't want to spoil anything) It was entertaining and my little cousins loved every minute of it. Now there might have been a couple of places that might scare some really young kids. I don't recall any bad language or anything that might hinder some parents from taking there kids. So I will some up this review with the words of my five year old cousin, "This movie was really cool!"

The reason for this blog is to help people decide whether or not they might be interested in a certain movie. I read movie guides all the time and I get tired of reading were movie critics give thumbs up to movies I can't stand and thumbs down to movies I love because they are rating the movie on cinematography and not on the basis of its just a good movie to watch. So I came up with my own Common Man's Guide to the Movie where you can learn about new and old movies, favorite tag lines, quotes, mistakes and just have fun learning about movies. I will start with some movies that I have most recently watched and then I will start adding some older movies that I found to be great movies. I think it will be great fun to get comments on how others viewed the films as well, so don't be shy we all have out opinions on what movie is worthy and what is not.
